Local Area

Entrecasteaux sits in the centre of Provence Verte – literally Green Provence – and is surrounded by green hills and forests dotted with vineyards and small holdings. It is a typical small Provencal village with Boulangerie, Boucherie, Spar, Tabac, two Bars, two restaurants and an excellent pizzeria. The local Wine co-operative produces some of the best Rosé in the Var region. Amazingly, Entrecasteaux has a cricket pitch and cricket team! Close to both the Mediterranean Sea, Lac Saint-Croix and the Gorges du Verdon, it is a great location to visit many different parts of Provence. We have included a few of our favourite places and things to do below. Perhaps our favourite place is the Ile de Porquerolles because it is a protected island that is traffic free, is like Provence was 50 years ago, and has many beaches, including Notre Dame, that are simply stunning.

Entrecasteaux also has two public tennis courts, table tennis, two bouledromes, a fitness circuit and basketball court. Canoeing on the River Argens nearby has always been popular with the children. For golfers there are 2 beautiful courses within 35 minutes drive of the Villa. Both courses are set in rolling Provencal countryside with beautiful views and lined with pine and oak trees. Golf de Barbaroux near Cabasse and Brignoles is the more generous course with fairways designed to bring your ball into play, but there are several water holes and it is the more hilly.  A buggy is recommended. St Endriol near Le Muy is a shorter course but there is no room for error.  Both courses have websites for additional information and contact details.
